Following an initial diagnostic consultation, the extent of the assessment is tailored to meet the needs of each individual. A comprehensive assessment includes evaluation of a broad range of cognitive, learning and behavioral questions. Assessments draw on the following areas of psychological function.

FORENSIC CONSULTATION / SERVICES

3b Neurocognitive Associates Forensic Services

Dr. Leonard provides forensic evaluations at the request of attorneys, public, and private agencies in the areas of medical malpractice, toxic tort, wrongful injury, wrongful death, standard of care, competency evaluations, and fitness for duty. Her areas of forensic research involve brain injury and legal problems of individuals with developmental disabilities or acquired brain impairment. Comprehensive forensic evaluations are available including expert witness consultation and testimony for civil and criminal proceedings including capital cases.

Dr. Leonard has served as an expert for defense and plaintiff attorneys. She provides consultations regarding fitness for duty for individuals who have work injuries and persons in appointed positions working in jurisprudence, law enforcement and government agencies. Dr. Leonard has testified in civil and criminal proceedings in district court, superior court and federal court. Her areas of expertise include evaluating individuals with developmental and neuropsychiatric disorders charged misdemeanors and felonies, including capital crimes, and the need for guardianship in civil proceedings.

Dr. Leonard's forensic interests involve the interface between mental health and the law. She is a Member of the Program in Psychiatry and the Law at Harvard Medical School and is a Faculty Fellow of the Center for Law, Science and Innovation at Arizona State University, Sandra Day O'Connor College of Law. Dr. Leonard is an Affiliate of the Section for Elder Law, Mental Health, and Special Needs Planning of the State Bar of Arizona.
