A Neuropsychologist is a professional within the field of psychology with special expertise in the applied science of brain-behavior relationships. Clinical Neuropsychologists use this knowledge in the assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and/or rehabilitation of patients with neurological, medical, neurodevelopmental and psychiatric conditions, as well as other cognitive and learning disorders. Neuropsychologists use psychological, neurological, cognitive, behavioral, and physiological principles, techniques and tests to evaluate patients’ relationship to normal and abnormal central nervous system functioning. The Clinical Neuropsychologist also uses information provided by other medical/healthcare providers to identify and diagnose neurobehavioral disorders, and plan and implement intervention strategies.

Located in Waltham, Massachusetts, Neurocognitive Associates is a specialty neuropsychological practice dedicated to the evaluation, treatment and research of brain-based disorders affecting development, learning and behavior in children and adults. Neurocognitive Associates provides a complete range of services for diagnosis, evaluation and treatment of psychological, psychoeducational, neuropsychological and developmental disorders. Elizabeth L. Leonard, Ph.D., Clinical Director

Curriculum Vitae

Elizabeth L. Leonard, Ph.D. is the Clinical Director of Neurocognitive Associates, P.C. Dr. Leonard has an extensive background in developmental disorders and rehabilitation. She is the recipient of numerous grants from private and public agencies for research in developmental disorders. Dr. Leonard has published and speaks nationally and internationally in the area of cognitive development in children with brain injury, autism and epilepsy. She is a member of the American Psychological Association, the National Academy of Neuropsychology and the International Neuropsychological Society. Dr. Leonard is on the faculty in The Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School. She is a Senior Research Associate in the Program for Psychiatry and the Law, Massachusetts Mental Health Center, Division of Public Psychiatry, Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School.
